One TDA Studbook, three registers
Every registered horse is recorded in the one TDA Studbook, in one of three registers, based on verified Thoroughbred ancestry. These are categories within the TDA Studbook — not separate studbooks.
Gold — Foundation Register
GoldVerified full Thoroughbred ancestry.
Silver — Sport Register
SilverVerified Thoroughbred ancestry of 50% or more.
Bronze — Derivative Register
BronzeVerified Thoroughbred ancestry of 25% or more.
Horses with verified Thoroughbred ancestry below 25% are not eligible for the TDA Studbook.
Membership
Annual membership plans for owners, families, and breeders.
Individual
AUD $75/year
TDA Membership for one person.
Family
AUD $120/year
Covers up to two adults plus dependent children under 18 from the same household under one TDA Family Membership. Each participating person has their own permanent TDA Member Number.
Breeder
AUD $150/year
For breeders and studs — TDA Membership plus one Breeder / Stud profile in the public Breeder Directory (each profile application is reviewed by TDA).
Registering a horse
A one-off registration fee applies based on the horse’s age at registration.
Foal Registration
AUD $60
Submitted while the horse is under 12 months old.
Horse Registration
AUD $80
Submitted once the horse is 12 months old or older.

Find approved breeders and studs, and stallions standing at stud.

Browse breeders registered with TDA.

Browse stallions listed for stud service.
