No. TDA is an independent registry and does not operate a direct integration with the Australian Stud Book.
They are three registers (categories) within the one TDA Studbook — not separate studbooks. Gold — Foundation Register: 100% verified Thoroughbred ancestry. Silver — Sport Register: At least 50% verified Thoroughbred ancestry. Bronze — Derivative Register: At least 25% verified Thoroughbred ancestry. Horses with verified Thoroughbred ancestry below 25% are not eligible for the TDA Studbook.
Individual Membership — AUD $75/year. Family Membership — AUD $120/year. Breeder Membership — AUD $150/year. Breeders can also purchase an optional Stallion Directory Listing — AUD $250/year per stallion.
Not automatically. TDA does not perform DNA testing. DNA evidence may be required to verify Thoroughbred ancestry, parentage or other registration information where applicable, and pedigree information is reviewed and verified by authorised TDA staff using accepted supporting documentation.
Foal Registration — AUD $60. Horse Registration — AUD $80.
Yes. An active TDA membership is required to register a horse and to access member registry services.
First create a free TDA account — that is your sign-in. Then, from your member portal, apply for the TDA Membership plan that suits you. Your account and your membership are separate: the account lets you sign in, and an active membership lets you register horses and hold registered ownership. Your permanent TDA Member Number is assigned when your first membership becomes active.
